What do I wear to an Ayurvedic Treatment?

The attire you wear to a treatment will depend on the treatment type.

Marma therapy: it is not necessary to undress and it is simply recommended that you wear loose comfortably fitting clothing and preferably a top that leaves the neck area accessible.

Oil Massages: Abhyanga and other oil massages involve long excursion strokes from the toes to the head covering the whole body. For this, special attire is required. Upon arrival, you will be provided some disposable underwear and for the ladies a bandeau bra to change into before your treatment. These garments provide adequate cover for your privacy and comfort while still giving the technician the ability to effectively perform the treatment.

Shirodhara: This treatment involves pouring oil over the head region. For this treatment, it is recommended that you either take off your top and will be provided a towel for cover, or wear a top that you’re okay getting a small amount of oil on. This is generally recommended in case there is a few drops from your hair after the treatment, however, it is unnecessary to fully undress as this treatment only treats the head and shoulder region.

Karna Purna and Kati Basti: These treatments are localized to specific regions of the body. Karna purna treats the head and ears and Kati Basti treats the sacrum and lower back area. It is always recommended for any oil treatment to wear clothes you’re okay getting a bit of oil on, however, it is unnecessary to fully undress for these treatments.
